Butter fat can carry cannabinoids into recipes. A double boiler and gentle heat help protect both the butter and the final flavor.

  • 3/4 lb unsalted butter
  • Water, if using the water method
The method

Instructions

  1. Water method: combine one part butter with four parts water in a heavy pot or double boiler.
  2. Add crumbled cannabis, bring to a gentle boil, and cook for about 30 minutes while stirring frequently.
  3. Strain, cool at room temperature, then refrigerate. Lift away the hardened butter and discard the water.
